We’ve shipped pure dried vacuum salt in Dubai since 2017, from our plant in the 3rd Industrial City, Riyadh, through Jebel Ali. Standard grade runs at 99.5% NaCl with moisture under 0.5%, in 25 kg bags and 1000 kg jumbo bags. Food processors, water treatment plants and chemical manufacturers are our main customers here.
PDV salt is a refined form of sodium chloride. It’s made by purifying brine and evaporating it under vacuum. You get clean white crystals with almost no insolubles, which is why it works for food, water treatment, textile and detergent applications across the UAE where rock salt would leave sediment behind.
Every batch is tested for NaCl content, moisture and insolubles before packing, and a Certificate of Analysis goes with each shipment. If you want to see the COA before the container leaves Riyadh, ask and we’ll send it for approval. Some buyers do this on the first order and then stop. Others want it every time. Either is fine.

Is PDV salt the same as table salt?
No. Table salt is packed for households and normally has iodine and an anti-caking agent added to it. PDV salt has neither. It runs at higher purity, the crystal size is controlled, and it is made for production lines rather than kitchens.
If you are seasoning at commercial scale, food-grade PDV is what you want. Table salt in bulk brings additives you did not specify into your product.
Is it PDV salt or PVD salt?
PDV. It stands for Pure Dried Vacuum, which describes how the salt is made — brine purified, then evaporated under vacuum.
PVD gets typed by mistake fairly often. PVD is Physical Vapour Deposition, a metal coating process with nothing to do with salt. If you have seen both spellings while sourcing, PDV is the correct one.
What is BS EN 973 Grade A?
It is the European standard for salt used to treat water intended for human consumption. There are two grades and A is the tighter one, with lower limits on impurities and heavy metals.
Municipal water authorities and commercial water treatment operators in the UAE usually specify Grade A in tenders. Our water treatment grade is produced to it.
What are your standard specifications?
Standard grade is ___% NaCl on a dry basis, with moisture below ___% and water-insoluble matter below ___%. Particle size is ___ mm. No anti-caking agent, no added iodine.
Those are typical figures. The batch you actually receive comes with its own Certificate of Analysis, and the numbers on that document are the ones that count. If your specification is tighter than the above, send it over and we will tell you honestly whether we can meet it.
Can I see the Certificate of Analysis before shipment?
Yes. Ask and we will send it for approval before the container leaves Riyadh.
Some buyers want this on the first order only, to qualify us, and then stop. Others want it on every consignment because their own QA process requires it. Either is fine — just tell us which at the quote stage so it is built into the process rather than chased afterwards.
What is your minimum order quantity for the UAE?

That assumes the grade is in stock. If it needs a fresh production run it takes longer, and we will tell you which one it is when you order rather than after. Documents provided are the commercial invoice, packing list, COA, MSDS and Certificate of Origin.
PDV salt or rock salt for a water softener?
Rock salt is cheaper per tonne, so the honest comparison is not price against price. It is price against what the impurities cost you.
Rock salt leaves sediment sitting in the brine tank, and that sediment ends up fouling resin beds. Plants running rock salt typically clean weekly. On PDV that usually stretches to monthly. Work out what a cleaning shutdown costs you and compare it against the difference per tonne. Sometimes rock salt still wins — if you are de-icing a yard, buy rock salt and do not pay for PDV.
Do you supply salt tablets for water softeners?
Yes, compacted tablets in 25 kg bags, made from the same BS EN 973 Grade A material as the crystal.
Tablets are the usual choice for softener installations because they dissolve at a steadier rate in the brine tank. Crystal is more common for chemical processing, drilling and pharmaceutical work, though a few plants prefer tablets there too for dosing reasons.
What packaging do you supply?
25 kg PP bags with an inner liner, 1000 kg jumbo bags, and 25 kg compacted tablets. Bags are palletised and shrink-wrapped, ___ bags per pallet, roughly ___ MT to a 20 ft container.
Bulk users on continuous-feed systems normally take jumbo bags. Everyone else takes 25 kg.
How should PDV salt be stored?
Dry, covered, on pallets and off the floor. Sealed bags kept that way stay free-flowing for ___ months.
Moisture is the only real enemy. A bag that has been sitting in a humid store with a split seam through a Gulf summer will cake, and that is a storage issue rather than a product one. Keeping moisture below ___% at packing is what buys you the shelf life in the first place.
